Letter from the Chair - 2008 |
|
Dear Friends,
As we rapidly approach the one-million dollar mark in monies raised for our very special kids, I would like to thank everyone for their ongoing commitment to our organization and its mission.
The primary mission of the Trust is to help the medically fragile/special needs children of Southern New Jersey. That is true, however, the other mission, the one that is not found in the literature -- the one that we struggle with putting into words. The one that I believe is key to the growth and ongoing success of this organization is summed up very well in a quote by Helen Keller, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen nor even touched, but must be felt in the heart”.
The true mission of the Trust Fund is not to simply raise as much money as we can, but also to raise the consciousness of all of those involved. Giving people the chance to give of themselves, either in their personal time by being an active member on our boards or committees, financially through sponsorships, by participating in the events, or simply by spreading the word about a very worthwhile cause allows them to experience what it feels like to truly open one's heart to others.
I guess at the end of the day it's about providing people with the opportunity to experience the “gift” of helping other. So please, take advantage of this opportunity and tell your family and friends about the Trust Fund, hold a community fundraiser with your neighborhood church, school or little league donate online (even $5 helps!) -- get everyone involved -- spread the word. Don't let your generosity be expressed only in words and good intentions -- Take Action! Together we can change the world, one child at a time.
And remember ... enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize that they really were the big things.
Thanks again for your support & generosity,
Mike (aka “The Chair”)
